Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
- Lacrosse shaft with head
- Lacrosse ball(40+ helps)
- Gloves
- Always wear helmet
- Wall or catch buddy
- Goal
Step1
The most important skill Lacrosse player must have is the ability to catch and throw. If you can catch and throw you can beat anyone.
Step2
First start with a simple warmup which usually consist of a 2 mile run not a jog then into 10 minutes of calisthenics. After that you go into interval sprints of about 80 yards gradually work your down to about 20 yards. 30 seconds of rest between each sprint. After you complete this you are warmed up and ready for line drills. (All warmup drills are done in full gear including stick)+(go full speed on the sprints)
Step3
Line drills are essential if you want to improve your throwing ability. Start off with 30 yard throws. This means catch on the run, cradle once then throw. Then go into 90 yard throws. This will help increase your throwing accuracy. Then back to 30 yard passes. You should notice after having thrown long passes the short 30 yard passes become easier. (Alternate throwing arms don't be one dimensional)
Step4
Hit the wall. All my coaches have told me hit the wall. It is true you can improve your stick skills. But the wall is mostly used to improve your weak points. For example if you struggle going to your left. Plant and roll to the left and throw the ball with your left. Also quick stick on the wall for about 15 minutes each side. You can practice your dodges.( But when you are throwing on the wall don't stay stationary. Always move around throw on the run. Throwing on the wall is a workout not a time to relax)
Step5
Lacrosse is a thinking mans game. If you know where your supposed to be. Throwing the ball becomes second nature. It that simple know your position and play your position. Don't worry about somebody else. Let them handle their responsibilities. Always think ahead. Know what your going to with the ball before you get the ball.
