How to Make Beef Stew with Pot Roast

Beef stew is a hearty and nutritious meal that is both flavorful and decadent. Many people use stew meat to make beef stew. However, using a pot roast to make beef stew results in a better quality of meat in the stew and a far superior taste. These easy steps will show you exactly how to make great tasting beef stew using a pot roast.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 to 4 pound pot roast
  • 3 large Idaho potatoes
  • 4 large carrots
  • 4 sticks of celery
  • 1 small boiling onion
  • 24 ounces of wheat beer
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Crock pot
  1. Step 1

    Wash and cut the vegetables. Wash the vegetables and cut them to the desired size and set aside.

  2. Step 2

    Place pot roast in crock pot with beer. Unwrap the pot roast and place it in the crock pot. Pour 24 ounces of beer over the pot roast.

  3. Step 3

    Season pot roast and beer then add vegetables. Season the pot roast with salt, pepper and a dash of garlic powder. Add the vegetables to the pot roast and cover.

  4. Step 4

    Cook the beef stew overnight. Cook the stew on medium heat for 12 to 16 hours, or overnight. The following day you will have delicious beef stew.

  • Try adding different vegetables and seasonings for a different flavor.
