Things You'll Need:
- Pineapple
-
Step 1
First check the pineapple to ensure that the eyes on the outside skin are of uniform or equal size.
-
Step 2
Smell the pineapple to ensure it does not smell of alcohol (over-ripe).
-
Step 3
Select a spine near the top of the pineapple. Use a gentle tug, if the spine releases the pineapple is ripe. If the spine does not release try another pineapple. This method has never failed me. The pineapple will be juicy and perfectly ripe if the spine releases with a gentle tug.

on 7/14/2009 Selecting the perfectly ripe pineapple is as easy as pulling a spine! I will definitely try this! 5*

on 9/17/2008 Thanks for sharing. I buy fresh pineapples quite often and had no idea how to check the freshness.
