Mirrors can make any room seem bigger. They are an affordable design option for any home. Covering an entire wall with mirrors can be a dramatic, eye-catching addition to a room. Here are tips to make hanging mirrors a little easier.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Purchase mirrors to fit the wall you are interested in covering. Hardware stores may offer mirror tiles that can be easily hung. This is a much cheaper option than buying one large mirror.

  2. Step 2

Prepare the wall. Make sure it's clean and smooth. Remove any unused nails.

  3. Step 3

Make a plan. Decide how you want to hang the mirrors. If you are installing mirror tiles, start with the bottom row. Measure your starting point and use a chalk line to ensure everything is straight.

  4. Step 4

Choose a material for mounting the mirrors. If you are using heavy-duty double stick tape, position the tape on the back of a tile. Line the edge of the tile up with the chalk line and press firmly into place. If you're hanging heavier mirror, use a picture hanging kit or nails. Use a level to make sure it's straight. Another option is mastic. Mastic is an extremely thick, non-drying glue often used in tiling. If you decide to use mastic, apply it with a trowel. Holding the trowel at a slight angle, press down and away to spread the adhesive. Be careful not to cover the guide lines with mastic because you will need to be able to see them as you hang each mirror.

  5. Step 5

Continue until all mirrors are hung.

Tips & Warnings
  • Once you're finished, press all mirror tiles again to make sure they are firmly in place.
  • Be creative with your use of mirrors. Don't just stick them in the bathroom or above the mantel.
