How to Make Breakfast Scones

Whether you're entertaining guests for a weekend brunch, or simply want a break from indulging in a bacon and pancake breakfast, scones are a quick an easy way to fix your breakfast cravings.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 box biscuit mix (Jiffy brand)
  • 2 tsp. coarse black pepper
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup Asiago cheese
  • 1 tbsp. freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 egg, beaten with 1 tsp. of water
  • 1 tsp. of sugar
  • 2 pinches of salt
  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Step 2

    Mix together biscuit mix, black pepper, cream, salt, cheese, and nutmeg. Make sure ingredients are blended well.

  3. Step 3

    Divide mixture into four large mounds, or eight small mounds and place on a nonstick cookie sheet.

  4. Step 4

    Brush scones with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar.

  5. Step 5

    Bake 10-12 minutes for large scones, or 7-8 minutes for smaller scones.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use any kind of cheese for a different flavor.
  • Experiment with different herbs and spices.
  • Check on progress a few minutes before times up to make sure scones don't burn.
