Research suggests the Amazon rainforest is on the brink of being turned into desert, with horrific consequences for the world's climate. Some groups are putting time and energy into sustaining its beauty to keep it as a wonderful resource for herbs and natural medicines.

  1. Step 1

    Become aware that the Rainforest if being slashed down every day at an alarming rate. It is at a tipping point. "the levels at which the momentum for change becomes unstoppable." wiki It is time to stand up for the Rainforest.

  2. Step 2

    Experts estimate that we are losing 137 plant, animal and insect species every single day due to rainforest deforestation. That equates to 50,000 species a year. As the rainforest species disappear, so do many possible cures for life-threatening diseases. Currently, 121 prescription drugs sold worldwide come from plant-derived sources. While 25% of Western pharmaceuticals are derived from rainforest ingredients, less that 1% of these tropical trees and plants have been tested by scientists.

  3. Step 3

    Spread awareness about the importance of the Rainforest. And become aware of ways to support the indigenous people who live there and are being threatened by deforestation.
