Of the many great Southern eats is deep fried Twinkies. These fried snacks are not very good for you but your taste buds will say otherwise.   • Stove
  • Vegetable oil
  • Twinkies
  • Tongs

  1. How to Deep Fry a Twinkie

      Get the supplies. You will need to get a deep fryer; most home appliances stores sell them. The other supplies you can get at the local grocery store.

      Heat up the fryer. Fill the fryer with 16 ounces of vegetable oil and heat on high heat for at least ten minutes.

      Deep fry the Twinkie. Using your tongs, place as many Twinkies into the oil as desired. Allow them to deep fry for 2-4 minutes.

      Remove from oil and cool. Using the tongs, remove the Twinkies from the hot oil and place them on a plate with a paper towel on it to suck up the remaining oil.

      Allow the Twinkies to cool for five minutes before consuming. Serve and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep on eye on the Twinkies as they cook, to avoid burning.

    I had a twinkie made like you suggest at the local fair years ago and it was horrible and grease soaked. The twinkie needs to be frozen first and preferably battered. I was turned off of deep fried twinkies for years due to some moron just throwing a twinkie into hot oil.
