Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- A little bit of time and awareness
Step1
**STORE BRANDS**If you feed your cat a premium brand, you may want to try looking at store brands. For example Petsmart carries a line of cat food called "Authority" which has comparable nutrients as the Premium brand "Nutro." The only difference is the price!!
Step2
**COUPONS! COUPONS! COUPONS!** Coupons can save you a significant amount of cash if used correctly! Watch the store circulars and try to use coupons for the product when it is already on sale!! Keep your eye out for alternate brands of quality that go on sale or have coupons. Your cats will love the variety (just make sure to transition the food slowly)
Step3
**MAIL IN REBATES** I know a woman who says she barely ever pays for cat food because she ALWAYS takes advantage of rebates. You can find these at the pet stores, if you don't see them, just ask - especially at stores such as Pet Valu.
Step4
**PET SHOWS = FREE SAMPLES** Often times, free samples are offered at pet shows. Take advantage of this - bring a friend and SAVE!
Step5
**CONTACT COMPANIES** Take the time to write up a form to e-mail/mail to all the food brands you are interested in. Expect free samples and coupons in return!
Step6
**BUY IN BULK** If you have the storage space buy 3-4 months supply, ask your neighbors if they want you to include their cat food in your order as well. Speak with the manager and ask for a deal or take advantage of bulk deals already offered. Think free shipping and 20-30% discount.
