How to Tie a Necktie with a Double Windsor Knot
The half-Windsor is the standard in the office these days, which is why wearing a double Windsor is one way to stand out from your colleagues. The wide, triangular knot accentuates a great tie, and in some circles communicates authority and power. The double Windsor, or full Windsor, is also best for formal wear that incorporates a necktie instead of a bow tie. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Drape the tie over your shoulders. The tie should be right side up, with the pattern, not the seam, showing and the wide end should extends about 12 inches beyond the narrow end. Cross the wide end over the narrow end near the second button of your shirt.
-
2
Feed the wide end up, behind and over the loop made by the crossed ends and then lay it back down on top of the narrow end, to the right of the growing knot.
-
-
3
Pull the wide end under the knot to the left and bring it around to the front. Feed the wide end of the tie up, behind and over the loop. The wide end will end up to the right of the knot again, but this time it will be inside out.
-
4
Pull the wide end to the left over the loop have just created. The wide end should be hanging to the left of the knot.
-
5
Bring the wide end over the knot to cover it, and back under and up through the loop between your collar and the tie. This time, instead of laying it down, feed the wide end through the loop in the front of the Windsor knot.
-
6
Gently tighten the knot until it looks professional, but is still comfortable.
