Instructions

    • 1

The best time to harvest your tulip bulbs is after they're done growing. Let them flower and let the green leaves and stem wither before you harvest the bulbs.

    • 2

Carefully dig up the ground where your tulip bulbs are planted. Expect to dig holes that are at least 8 inches deep.

    • 3

When you find the tulip bulbs, carefully loosen all of the dirt that surrounds them.

    • 4

Dig your hole at least 2 inches deeper than the bottom of the bulb. Begin to gently pull up your tulip bulb. As you're pulling, try to loosen the dirt that's underneath the bulb, too. The roots grow down, so be careful as you extract this portion of the bulb.

    • 5

After removing your bulbs, wrap them loosely in burlap. Keep them in a cool, dry place until it's time to plant them again in the fall.
