Things You'll Need:
- ideas
- paint
- fabric
- help from friends
-
Step 1
The first thing you want to think about is your tastes and the tastes of anyone else who might be spending a lot of time in the baby's room. If you know you're having a girl, but you are the anti-girly girl, don't feel like you have to fill her room with pink flowers and princesses. If you hate it, you'll resent it being in your house.
-
Step 2
Don't choose something that's overly trendy. You want something that will grow with your child, at least for the first few years. While you may love the combination of brown and orange today, you might not feel that way next year. Likewise with cartoon themes. Today's Pokemon is yesterday's Power Rangers. If you feel the need to go with a cartoon theme choose something long lasting, such as, Dr. Seuss or The Muppets.
-
Step 3
Don't go over the top with a girl or boy theme. Even though sonograms and ultrasounds are incredibly reliable these days, technicians do make mistakes. If you don't mind your son living in a pink cotton candy room, feel free to decorate to your heart's content. If you are slightly more traditional maybe do the room slightly more neutral. You can make things look feminine (or masculine) without being girly (or manly).
