Bathtubs are a magnet for all sorts of stains and when you take a bath or shower it is nice to have a bright, clean, new looking tub to bathe in. There are several methods for removing different stains from tubs but if your tub is old and etched the stain may never come out.
Determine what type of stain it is that you are trying to remove from your bathtub. Is it a red or brown stain that might be rust? Is it a blue, green, or white stain? You may be dealing with limescale. Different stains require different removal methods.

Start out simple. Clean your bathtub with a soap scum removing bathroom cleaner. Soap scum can trap dirt and oils and can be hard to remove. Even if soap scum is not your stain problem, it will make cleaning your stain easier if the tub is free of residue.
3
Try removing your stain with a magic eraser type sponge. These sponges remove all sorts of stains without the use of any kind of cleaner. Lightly dampen the eraser sponge and rub gently at the stain. If it looks like some of the stain is coming off, keep at it.
4
Remove stains using baking soda. Just sprinkle the baking soda on the stain and scrub at it using a sponge. A little elbow grease may get out your stain.
5
Remove rust stains from your bathtub by using salt and lemon. Sprinkle a size-able amount of salt over your rust stain and then saturate it with fresh lemon juice. Let the mixture sit for several hours or overnight.
6
Use a pumice stone if all else fails. A pumice stone is a piece of gray lava rock material that you scrub directly onto the stain. The rock will not scratch your bathtub and removes most stains. Do not use a pumice stone on chrome.
