Is your DVD and CD collection taking over? Are you spending too much time trying to find that flick you want to watch? Organizing your home media collection can help you enjoy it even more.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Shelving
  • DVDs
  1. Step 1

Purchase proper shelving. Look for shelves that are designed specifically for DVDs. Be sure to take note of the shelves' capacity. Make sure to give yourself plenty of room for your current collection and for expansion.

  2. Step 2

Organize your collection. Decide whether to sort your collection alphabetically, by genre or using a cataloging system.

  3. Step 3

Using an on line database or computer software is another organization option. Sites like MovieCollectorPlus.com or DVDAnthology.com offer free services for cataloging your collection.

  4. Step 4

Try using computer software like Microsoft Excel. List your movies and Excel will alphabetize them. Print out a copy and keep it handy near your movies and music.
