How to Block A Buddy on AIM

Instant Messenger is an great way to chat with people that you may not otherwise keep up with. There may come a time that you are getting too much attention from one certain buddy and you need to block his or her messages. Here's how to do it.

Things You'll Need

• AIM or iChat

Instructions

1. Sign on to AIM normally.

2. Click once on the buddy name in your buddy list that you want to block, whether he is signed on or not.

3. Click on "Buddies" from the pull-down window.

4. At the bottom of the pull-down menu there will be a bold choice that reads "Block (Buddy's name)." Select this.

5. A window will pop up asking if you are sure you want to block (Buddy's name). It will also remind you that this will be permanent, but you can always edit your block settings in the Security section of your account preferences in the future. If you are sure, click on "Block."

6. The Buddy will disappear and you will not be bothered again.
