Things You'll Need:
- Visual Boy Advance
- GBA Roms
- WinRAR
- Internet Connection
-
Step 1
Search the internet for an emulator. An emulator is a program written in C or C++ language to run a game image called ROM for a certain handheld or game console. Since we want to play GBA games, we will need a GBA emulator. There are already many of these around the net, so we’ll just download the best emulator (I think), which is the Visual Boy Advance. Its easy to use and it can run almost any GBA ROM available on the net. Just search it on Google and download. When you already have one, its usually packed in RAR format, you’ll need a WinRAR to open and extract the files. Go to www.rarlab.com to get this tool.
-
Step 2
Now that you have an emulator, you will need a ROM of your favorite game. For example, you want to play Castlevania: Aria Of Sorrow, just search it on Google in this format, “Castlevania Aria Of Sorrow GBA Rom download” without the quotation and download the game on the result web pages. Or you can just go to ROM hosting site and directly download your game, a very good GBA Rom site is www.emuparadise.org, they have all the GBA games released ready for you to download. It will also be in a RAR format. Just open it with WinRAR and extract the game on your Visual Boy Advance directory.
-
Step 3
To play a game, open the Visual Boy Advance emulator.
-
Step 4
You’ll get this window. Go to FILE > OPEN or press CTRL + O on your keyboard.
-
Step 5
Locate your ROM. Its extension is .gba then press Open.
-
Step 6
Now you can start to play the game! For configuration of the keys, just go to OPTIONS > JOYPAD > CONFIGURE > 1 and map the keys you want to use on your keyboard. I’ll teach you the save state function. Save Stating is… you save your exact state on the game, no need to locate a save point in the game and you can do this anytime. Press SHIFT + F1 to F10 to save your state on the game and press the F button to load. Example, you save your state on F1, to load your state, just press F1 once. Happy gaming! =)
