Things You'll Need:
- Computer
- Internet Access
- iPod device
- iTunes
- Fingers
- A mind that wants to be stimulated!
-
Step 1
Open your iTunes.
-
Step 2
On the left side of your iTunes screen, you will see a prompt for the iTunes Store (it has a green bag to denote shopping.) Double click on this.
-
Step 3
When that screen comes up, you will see a box in the upper-middle left hand side that says: Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc. (in descending order). Double click on Podcasts.
-
Step 4
Observe options. On the left side you will see categories and featured providers; on the right side, you will see top podcasts. When you find one you like, double click on it.
-
Step 5
I liked Stuff You Should Know, so I clicked on that. The top of my screen now says "Stuff You Should Know" and below there is a list of free Podcasts available to me.
-
Step 6
I highlight the episode I want. I also click "Get Episode" which is right next to the free button.
-
Step 7
Return to your normal iTunes screen. To the left of the screen, under your library, you should see an option for Podcasts. Click on that. You should see your chosen podcast and episode now.
-
Step 8
At this point, your iPod needs to be plugged in. Make sure it is. Again, on the left side, under devices, you should see something that says your name and your product: ie. Erin's Nano. Double click on that.
-
Step 9
When you double click on that, you will see the following across the top of the screen: Summary, Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Contacts and Games. Double click on the Podcast tab.
-
Step 10
At the top you will see a box that gives you a syncing option (you can sync the most recent podcast, you can sync the three most recent podcasts, you can sync none of them should you so choose.) But pick something.
-
Step 11
Below that you will see a list of the podcasts you have added to iTunes. There are boxes to the left of the list. Select whichever program you would like added to your iPod.
-
Step 12
In the bottom right hand corner, you will see the word Sync. Press it. Your iPod should light up on the base; and in iTunes it should say it is syncing. This happens quickly and it will say when it is finished.
