How to make knitting needles out chopsticks

Wooden knitting needles are the best type of needles to knit with; However they also cost more than the average plastic or metal ones. This how-to will show you a way to make a pair for free!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • wooden chopsticks
  • a pencil sharpener
  1. Step 1

    The next time you order chinese cuisine, ask for a couple pairs of wooden chopsticks to go along with your meal.

  2. Step 2

    Take the chopsticks and carefully sharpen the smaller ends the same way as you would sharpen an unsharpened pencil

  3. Step 3

    dull the sharpened points of the chopstick by lightly burning the pointed tips with a lighter and then tap and rub them back and forth across the surface of a dinner plate.

  4. Step 4

    you have now tansformed your chopsticks into knitting needles for free.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember to request chopsticks at your favorite resturant, they all have them, but you may need to ask for them.
  • coating them with clear fingernail polish or wood finish gives them a wonderful look and makes them smoother for any yarn type.
  • Pushing a flattened thumbtack on the oppisite end really gives the the authentic knitting needle look
