How to Sketch Dragons

It's imaginative and fun to sketch dragons.

Since dragons are mythical and imaginative, you can sketch them to be of any size, shape and personality you like. They can also have humdrum scales, flowers or any other design on their skin. A few simple tips will help you.

Things You'll Need

• Sketch pad or paper
• Pen, marker, pencil or other drawing tools

Instructions

1. 

   Start with the eye or head area. Make it menacing or goofy.

2. 

   Draw a curvy line, like a snake, coming from the head area to start the body of the dragon.

3. 

   Complete the dragon’s body, making sure to include legs, claws and a gaping mouth for teeth.

4. 

   Add the armor, teeth and claws.

5. 

   Fill in the scales and claws with fine lines or shading.

6. 

   Make the dragon complete with a scaly design.

Tips & Warnings

• If you wish to add wings, draw them before the armor.

• Dragons make great tattoos.

• As with any sketch, when you think you made a mistake, simply incorporate it into the drawing. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at some of the results.

• Sketching dragons can be very addictive.
