Shrimp cooked in a hot skillet can be prepared in a matter of minutes with a few ingredients and seasonings. Once the shrimp are shelled, cleaned and deveined, they are ready to be sauteed in the skillet. For added color, flavor and nutritional value, add fresh, sliced onions, bell peppers, asparagus, broccoli and other favorite vegetables.

Preheat skillet over medium-high heat and add desired amount of olive oil or butter.

Add shrimp to the skillet in a single layer.

Season the shrimp with salt and pepper to taste. You may also add a couple cloves of chopped garlic to the skillet for added flavor.

Stir the shrimp frequently and cook for about 2 to 2-1/2 minutes on each side. Shrimp is fully cooked when the outside is pale pink and the inside is opaque.

Remove shrimp from the heat and serve.
