How to Dress Hip-Hop, Preppy, Fabulous and Cool For Men

This is a great all-purpose outfit for a man that can be worn to work, school, church, the laundromat and still look good. You can wear a lot of hats with this outfit. You can go from the block to the conference room without changing your clothes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• Red polyester skull cap
• Black skull cap
• Long length (as far as the bottom of the shirt not the sleeves) black background knit polo shirt with white and red horizontal stripes
• Jet black jeans
• Shiny black leather dress shoes with a leather sole
• Short sleeved white tee shirt to layer underneath the longer black striped polo shirt
• Yellow gold watch with a large face
• Gold chain around the neck that is flat and does not sit on the chest
• Black Socks
• Black belt to hold up the pants but will not be able to be seen underneath the long shirt bottom so it does not have to be leather

1. Put on the white Hanes men’s tee shirt.
2. Put on the long length black knit polo shirt with wide white and red horizontal stripes
3. Put on the red polyester skull cap that you purchased at an African-American beauty supply shop. Leave a layer of red showing beneath the black one you will put on next.
4. Put on the black skull cap over the red skull cap so that the red color has an inch of the brim showing all around and the two colors are worn together on the head.
5. Put on a gold chain that is sitting on the white tee shirt underneath the black polo shirt and do not close the top three buttons. Fan out the top collar a little bit so that the shiny gold chain and the white tee shirt show through a little bit in front.
6. Put on the black socks.
7. Put on the black jeans and turn the cuffs up one inch at the bottom.
8. Put the black belt through the belt loops and fasten the buckle.
9. Put the yellow gold watch with a large watch casing and face on it.
10. This outfit combines hoodrat, hip-hop and preppy elements together to create an outfit that looks good in the neighborhood, picking up your kids from school, at church and even at work. This outfit will look good on you anywhere.

Tips & Warnings

• You may want to try men’s dress sneakers with this outfit as well to give it a more polished look for the office. Shiny black leather dress shoes with a leather sole would be the better way though.
• Depending upon how formal or uptight your work environment is or your church is you may need to remove the skull caps when you are inside the building.
• Only turn the cuffs up one inch. Do not turn the cuffs up three inches like girls do as it will not look as good for work and the effect will be more casual Friday than Monday through Thursday business casual preppy.
• Don’t wear a baseball cap with this outfit unless it is the weekend and you are just hanging out with friends. A cap makes this outfit lose its ability to be worn to work and other serious places.
