Things You'll Need:
-
Step 1
Take the chest measurement. To determine the chest size, lay the blazer flat, face up, with the buttons fastened. Measure from underarm to underarm across the chest. You will get something in the neighborhood of 20 or higher. Double this measurement, and add 2. So, a blazer with a chest measurement of 22 inches will be a 46.
-
Step 2
Next, take the length measurement. Flip the blazer over so that the back is facing up. Measure from the bottom of the collar to the hem. You will get something between 28 and 34 or higher. Length is classified as short, regular, long or extra long. Here are some guidelines:
Less than 30 = short
30-32 = regular
32-33 = long
33+ = extra long
Note - the length can be a gray area. Check on eBay for other blazer listings to see other sellers' classifcations based on length. Use your best judgement on classifying the length. Some sellers include both categories if a length is on the borderline of two - such as "46 Regular Long." Let the customer be the judge of the potential fit by providing the actual measurement in the listing. -
Step 3
Next, take the shoulder measurements. While the blazer is in the same position (face down), measure across the mid-back between the shoulder seams. You will usually get something between 19 and 22.
-
Step 4
Finally, take the sleeve length. With the blazer still face down, measure from the top of the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff. You will get measurements around 22-26 inches.
-
Step 5
If you are selling Big and Tall, or portly sizes, you may want to include a waist measurement. To take the waist measurement, lay the item flat, face up. Fasten the buttons. Measure across where the natural waist falls.
