Jambalaya a mixture of sweet and spicy, a combination of flavor that you can not find anywhere else. Jambalaya is one of my favorite dishes to make and now I am going to share with you how to make it!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • One package of Zatarain's Jambalaya mix
  • 1 pound of Kielbasa(Can be substituted for Beef, Chicken, or Shrimp)
  • 2 1/2 cups of water
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • Large frying pan with lid
  • Fork
Step1
Chop up the Kielbasa into small 1/8th inch slices. Usually one package of Kielbasa is just about 1 pound, that is what I use for this recipe.
Step2
Add the 2 1/2 cups of water and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to the fry pan and bring it to a boil. Add the Zatarain's Jambalaya mix and the kielbasa to the fry pan and then bring the mixture back up to a boil.
Step3
Cover the fry pan, bring it down to a simmer, and cook for 25 min(35 min for seafood), stirring occasionally. IF you do not have a cover, you will need to use about 4 1/2 cups of water as most of it will boil off. I add one extra cup at a time as the water gets low.
Step4
If using chicken or beef make sure that it is precooked! Congratulations you have just made Jambalaya, now only to find 4-6 hungry mouths to feed with it!

Tips & Warnings

  • Kielbasa is my favorite to use with this recipe.
  • Make sure to check out more Zatarain's Rice Mixes they are all great!
  • If you use seafood, cook the mix for another 10 minutes.
  • Precook the meat, don't want anyone getting sick!
