Many veggie lovers are accustomed to the traditional spinach salad, complete with mushrooms, hard-boiled egg, and bacon bits sprinkled on top. However, a unique way to prepare the same dish is by wilting spinach leaves and serving the salad warm. Learn how to make a quick and simple hot spinach salad from scratch.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 bag fresh spinach
  • 3 slices of bacon
  • 3 hard-boiled eggs
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 tsp. vinegar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable or olive oil
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper
  • Large bowl
  • Microwave-safe bowl or container
  • Two cups water
  • Frying pan
  • Small pot
  1. Step 1

Boil a few cups of water in a medium-sized pot. When it is bubbling, gently place three eggs in the water and boil for about 20 minutes.

  2. Step 2

In the meantime, fry three slices of bacon in a pan.

  3. Step 3

Using a microwave-safe container, open a bag of pre-washed fresh spinach and empty the greens into the container. Add two cups of water and heat on "medium" until greens are tender and warm. Remove any excess water.

  4. Step 4

Transfer the warm greens to a salad bowl and gently crumble bacon strips onto the salad when it has cooled.

  5. Step 5

Add the sliced mushrooms to the warm spinach salad. Remove the eggs from the boiling water and allow them to cool to a point of handling.

  6. Step 6

Gently crack the shells and crumble the egg into the spinach salad.

  7. Step 7

Using a small side bowl, mix 1/4 cup olive or vegetable oil, a pinch of salt, a pinch of pepper and a teaspoon of vinegar into a quick, tasty salad dressing.

  8. Step 8

Pour the dressing over the warm salad and toss gently.
