Fast Forward (aka Rewind) is an improvisational acting game that should really be played by players who can keep an entire scene in their heads at once. Players will be forced to jump through the scene backwards, forward and sideways, so it will be essential that players not only keep careful track of everything they do, but consider what would happen as a result of their actions, as well as what might have caused them. Here is how to play Fast Forward

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging
Step1
Ask the audience for a title suggestion for the show that will be acted out.
Step2
Explain that this scene will be controlled by a viewer, who can at will issue commands including, "Fast Forward," "Rewind," "Slow Motion" and "Pause."
Step3
Select an audience member to be the viewer. If you have not played this game in front of an audience many times before, you may wish to have the host be the viewer instead.
Step4
Start the scene by having the viewer shout "Play." The viewer is in complete control, and so the scene should just continue to play straight until further commands are issued.
Step5
Have the viewer interrupt the scene constantly to issue new commands. Some common things to do are to fast forward to the end to watch the final scene, then rewind to the middle. You can also freeze frame on a particularly funny position, and play it in slow motion. Or if there's a scene of someone getting hit, you can rewind and replay it three or four times.
Step6
Stop the scene by saying, "Power off" when you as the viewer decide the scene is finished.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you're the host, be an active viewer and talk about why you want to fast forward or rewind.
  • Don't make an audience member the viewer if he seems confused by the game.
