  • Patience
  • Professional help (if neccessary)
  • Inner strength
  1. Step 1

Recognize the addiction. A lot of porn addiction runs rampant because people fail to either recognize it or admit it. If it is compulsive and cannot be controlled, there is an addiction. Do not be ashamed if you have a problem. Recognizing an addiction and admitting it is the first step.

  2. Step 2

Deal with the guilt. Because of its content and nature, people with porn addictions suffer in silence because of the guilt associated with it. Deal with it by remember that underneath it, the addiction is more about emotional need than anything else.

  3. Step 3

Realize and identify your thoughts. Does the porn make you feel accepted? Does it make you feel wanted? Does it make you feel less lonely? For many addicts, its is about how they feel when they view porn or what they may be lacking that porn fulfills. Think deep about your feeling and thoughts while you're satisfying your addiction.

  4. Step 4

Focus on more positive things which make you happy. Porn addictions tend to fill a void in those obsessed with it. Shift your mind and attention onto more positive things which fulfill you. You need to change the association of pleasure and good feeling from porn to something more constructive.

  5. Step 5

Take it one day at a time. Deal with your addiction one day at a time and remember that there may be setbacks, stumbles and falls. Be patient with yourself and breaking this long time and unhealthy relationship.

  6. Step 6

Seek professional help. Seeking a counselor or therapist is a wise decision if the addiction continues. There are many specialists who can help you with a porn addiction before it ruins much of your life.
