How to Make Your Own Wedding Thank You Cards

Are you about to get married? If so, chances are you will be receiving lots of wedding gifts before or after the wedding. You may have an engagement party, where gifts are given to you and your future spouse. There could be a bridal shower. Or, your gift receiving moments may come during the wedding reception. Whatever the case may be, you'll want to thank your guests for attending the wedding and for giving you a gift. Make your wedding thank you cards extra personal by making them yourself.

Instructions

1. Decide what you want your cards to look like. You could choose a card with just a front and back, post card style. You could choose a regular card, that opens up left to right, or one that opens top to bottom.

2. Determine whether you want a picture to be part of the card. If using a photo, decide which photo to use. One that has the bride and groom together is a good choice. This creates a photo memory to each guest of the wedding as well as serving as a thank you.

3. Choose a paper type for your cards. You could use a card stock or a heavyweight paper. Many art stores now sell designer paper at discount costs, such as AC Moore (see Resources below). Linen paper looks very professional, also giving a sentimental feel.

4. Write the message you want in the thank you card. The advantage to making your own cards is that each one can say something different. You could have some generic words typed onto the card, such as a general thank you. Then, you could write in a personal message on each card. 5. Decide on the type of font style you will use, such as Century Gothic or Book Antiqua.

6. Obtain the necessary supplies to make the cards. You will need a computer to get started. The computer needs to have some type of program installed for you to make the cards. Depending upon what you want on the cards, you will need different programs. A basic card could be done with a card style program in Word Perfect. More complex cards might demand Adobe Photoshop or some other printing program.

7. Load the preferred computer program and select the option to make cards. The computer will set everything up for you to begin making the card. The computer program is designed to walk you through the steps of adding words and photos to the card.

8. Type the words as you wish them to appear on the card. Select the photo and load it as requested on the card.

9. Print out one card first to make sure it prints out the correctly and everything is in place on the card. If everything is okay, you are ready to print out the rest of the cards.
