What are "Spiritual Gifts" and why are they important? And if we all have them then how do I know what mine are? These questions are asked by those compelled to seek out the direction for their lives, the plan they should make for their future, and how to use what they have. Every man, woman, boy and girl has a gifts. Some are obvious and most are not immediately visible or recognized. Others come as you grow and your life changes. But be assured, we are all gifted because God's word says so. What are Spiritual Gifts?

Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, speakers of the truth in love. These are not Spiritual Awards but God's means for service and ministry to others. (Ephesians 4:1-15)

Where do these gifts come from?

Jesus Christ gives specific gifts to every believer as he sees fit by God's grace.
(I Corinthians 12 and Ephesians 4:1-16)

Why are Spiritual Gifts important?

To prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature Christians portraying the full image of Christ. (Ephesians 4:12,13)

Tips & Warnings

Pray before you act. You are representing God your Father and want to portray His image in whatever you do and how you do it.
Allow the Holy Spirit to direct you and you won't go wrong
You may not recognize your gift at first but it will surface
You may think you have only one gift but someday realize you have more gifts than you thought
You will know the gift because you will have a burning desire to use it
Stay humble before God and man or you will be humbled before God and man
Use your gift to help and bless others and you will be blessed
Service is not a dirty word, it is an honor, enjoy it

on 9/19/2008 This is a strange, but slightly related question. You say "You will know the gift because you will have a burning desire to use it". Could this be true of other talents, skills, desires that are in your heart and mind that aren't spiritual, but have to do with everyday things?
