Things You'll Need:
- Computer
- MS Word (or other word processing program)
- Printer
- Paper
- Easter Clip (see resources below)
- Scissors
-
Step 1
First, you need to set up your margins in MS Word. You can use any word processing program, but these directions are specifically for MS Word users.
-
Step 2
Create a text box in MS Word. Format the text box with the margins of 7.5" height and 9.8" width. You can make the outline of the text box dashed lines or straight lines by choosing which you like in the format box.
-
Step 3
Sample Easter Mini-Book DesignNext, you need to add vertical and horizontal lines to your text box. These lines will format the pages of the book. Simply use the "Auto Shapes" feature in MS Word to place the lines where you want them to go within the text box. The more lines you use, the more pages you will have. But, the pages will become smaller with the more lines you use. See the example below.
-
Step 4
Choose clip art and wording that you want to go on each page. Keep in mind that the top pages need to be written upside down in order for the mini-book to work properly. Using WordArt helps make this easy, as you can flip and rotate wording easily. Save your mini-book often, so you don't lose your hard work.
-
Step 1
Step 1Now you will want to fold the mini-book to turn it into an actual book. The first step is to cut out the book along the outer line of the text book that you created.
-
Step 2
Step 2Next, fold along the solid line width-wise, so you can still see the words. See example below.
-
Step 3
Step 3Cut along the dotted line in the center. Your book should look like the picture shown here.
-
Step 4
Step 4Fold the book along the dotted lines. It should have a fan shape to it.
-
Step 5
Step 5Fold in half again. After this, unfold the whole thing.
-
Step 6
Step 6Fold the book in half length-wise. Now push the two ends in towards the center of the book to put the pages in place.
-
Step 7
Final Mini-BookHere is what the final mini-book should look like. It takes a few times to get the steps down, but once you know how to make one, you will want to make lots more!
