Wear green. Green, the traditional color of Ireland is "de rigeur" on St. Patrick's Day. You don't have to dress all in green (although that's okay too), but at least add a green accessory or two to your outfit.

2
Pick something fanciful. St. Patrick's Day is a joyful holiday. Add to the fun by wearing one of the many fanciful accessories sold around the holiday. Examples include felt Leprechaun hats, buttons with slogans like "Kiss Me I'm Irish" or Shamrock-shaped sunglasses.

Don a green carnation. Most florists and even street vendors offer green carnations and white carnations with green tips for St. Patrick's Day. Wearing one is an easy and inexpensive way to make your outfit festive. Green carnations also make a nice hostess gift to take to a St. Patrick's Day party.

Dress up as a leprechaun. Leprechauns, those mischievous Irish fairies, are one of the symbols of St. Patrick's Day. Delight the children in your group--or just add to the whimsy of the holiday--by dressing in a green suit, vest and top hat. Most costume shops and online retailers sell and rent leprechaun outfits.
