Things You'll Need:

  • Mats
  • Coach
  1. Step 1

Start running and hurdle step into your round off by taking a lunge step. Make sure the lunge step is long and low to the ground or mat. This will keep the body's center of gravity balanced.

  2. Step 2

As you land your roundoff, your torso pushes away from the floor while your arms are by your ears extending upward to the ceiling in a stretching motion. Keep your head in a neutral position by looking straight away keeping your eyes fixed on a chosen spot in front of you.

  3. Step 3

Landing with your feet flat on the floor, jump into the air from the landing starting with your heels and pushing off from the ball of your feet. Slightly lean your shoulders backwards and bring your knees in a tucked position over your head. make sure your head does not lean to the left or right.

  4. Step 4

Rotate around 360 degrees, extend your legs out of the tucked position and land on both feet simultaneously. When landing keep your legs slightly bent to absorb the shock and to prevent yourself from slipping.

Tips & Warnings
  • Practice standing back flips on a trampoline first.
  • Always use a gymnastics coach and a spotter.
