How to Reseal your deck

Water and moisture can ruin your deck over time. So it is important to reseal it over time.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • sander
  • preasure washer
  • sealant
  • sealand remover/striper
  • sander
  1. Step 1

    First you will want to clean your deck. Use your pressure washer / power washer to remove all of the dirt and mildew. Let dry completely before the next step.

  2. Step 2

    Use the striper or remover as the instruction indicate. This process can sometimes take a day or so. Striper or remover can be purchased at any hardware store.

  3. Step 3

    Use your sander with a medium grit sand paper and lightly sand over your deck. Remove all sanding dust before continuing.

  4. Step 4

    Now just apply the new sealant with a paint brush. Make sure to coat your entire deck and all exposed wood. Instructions will be on your sealant.

  5. Step 5

    Now let the sealant dry. This normally takes several hours depending on the humidity and brand/type of sealant.

  6. Step 6

    Many people will add a second coat to make sure they protect there deck completely.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not apply sealer if it could possibly rain the same day
