How to Defend Yourself Against Bear Hugs

Common thugs use bear hugs, especially against young women. Fortunately, there are self-defense strategies that will make an attacker wish that he hugged a real bear. Having a plan for self-defense against any kind of attack is necessary. Oftentimes, when being attacked by a criminal, a victim only has seconds to react. Memorize self-defense techniques in order to immediately respond to attackers.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A partner
  1. Step 1

    Have a partner wrap his arms tightly around you, pinning your arms to the side.

  2. Step 2

    Spread both legs out and bend your knees, creating some distance between you and the attacker.

  3. Step 3

    Raise both of your arms up simultaneously in order to brake your opponent's grip.

  4. Step 4

    Strike your opponent with an elbow, stomp your opponent's feet, and attempt to spin out of your opponent's grip.
