How to Beat Final Fantasy XII: Pass Rabanastre 1

2 years after the murder of the King of Dalmasca, we now observe the simple life of Vaan. An orphan living in Rabanastre among many different kinds of people, including the Archadians who've set themselves up in our boy's town. In this episode, Vaan'll need to take care of some business and learn some new tricks.

Difficulty: Easy

1. We start in the Rabanastran sewers. Vaan wants to take down some strangely overgrown rats than live down there (geez, what do they put in these sewers?) for fun. Well, nothing better to do, so slice n' dice the rodents after finding them on your minimap (the red dots). Afterwards, Vann'll go up to the surface with a younger boy named Kytes, telling him to lock up. Before he does, however, Kytes lets Vaan know that the shopkeeper Migelo needs Vaan to run some errands for him.
2. As an award for wiping out the pesky vermin, you get to watch this amusing cutscene where Vaan shows his respect to the Archadian soldiers by stealing one's Gil pouch!
   After running away, Vaan's friend Penelo finds him and takes a look at what he found. She reminds him that he shouldn't be so greedy, but Vaan is distracted by a airship floating across the skies. Here we find that Vaan really wants to be a sky pirate, with all the freedom that entitles.
3. Penelo also tells Vaan Migelo needed some work done. Best not keep him waiting. Migelo can be found by using the area map, which you can use after the map tutorial which explains the world map. After bringing up the area map, you'll see that Migelo's place isn't too far away. All you need to do is head forward from where you are (east), and then take a right (south).
4. Migelo says that some goods that he ordered for the banquet that night hadn't arrived yet, so he ordered some replacement goods from the Sandsea. Kytes was supposed to get these, but he hasn't returned yet. So Migelo wants Vaan to find Kytes so that he can get the replacement goods for the banquet that night. Wow, talk about getting to the point!
5. But anyway, you need to find Kytes. Bring up the area map by pressing select and make your way towards the red X. This is the Sandsea, a tavern and place of meeting and conversation. And something else, as you'll find out. Vaan finds Kytes here, standing in front of a billboard pointing out why Migelo's goods haven't arrived. The billboard sports signs of marks that need to be hunted, Vaan's kind of work.
6. Tomaj, the bartender at the Sandsea, explains how the marks system works. Keep all this information in mind, because it's a handy way to make some extra items and Gil in the game. After the marks tutorial, Tomaj will explain the license board. This is one of the most important aspects of the game, because it is the only way to expand you equipment and magic and such. Pay close attention, this info will come in really handy.
7. The hunt then begins for the Rogue Tomato. Tomaj then hands over a Writ of Transit, which will allow Vaan to pass outside the city gates. Tomaj tells you that you'll want to exit from the east side to find the mark in the desert, otherwise known as the Estersand. Before you leave the tavern be sure to equip the Orrachea Armlet that you just got the license for. It will increase your health a bit, which will probably help with the hunt.
8. We're off! Bring up the map and guide your way to Eastgate. Before you leave, though, explore the surrounding shops to see if there's anything of interest. You might want to purchase a few extra potions at Migelo's place just in case.
9. Once you're out in the Estersand, familiarize yourself again with the combat system by warming up on some wolves and cactites. And if you come across a giant T-Rex in the middle of nowhere, DO NOT FIGHT IT. It'll take you down in one hit if you attack it, so stay clear of the area it's in!
   The Rogue Tomato is on the edge of a cliff in the center of the map, not far from where you came from. Look for a tree with white blossoms, it's near there.
10. Once you find it, club the little guy into tomato paste. Sadly, when you take off half his HP he gets smart and jumps off the cliff to the ground below. Chase him down and wipe off the rest of his health. At the end of the epic battle, Vaan finds some Galbana Lilies and decides to head home. Before you do, though, look around the dunes for some spare treasure and train on the enemies that are there. Make sure you Steal from them first, before you take them down.
    Be cautious, though. If you use up to much of your health and potions, you could get stuck in a bad spot. Make sure you stick to the simpler enemies to, like wolves and cactites. Avoid the cocatrices in the west.
11. When you're ready, backtrack to Rabanastre where you're stuck outside the gate until after the ceremony. Talk to Kytes, who got stuck too, and watch the scene in which Migelo bribes the guards with some quality wine. Then sit back, relax, and watch the long event depicting the parade and a speech by Lord Vayne, Archadian prince.
12. After the ceremony, Vaan gets to scheming and decides he doesn't like this Vayne, so he's going to ruin his little party. Penelo says Vaan should go to Lowtown to ask Old Dalan about getting into the palace. Before you do, head back to the Sandsea to collect your reward from Tomaj. The bartender tells you about an organization that Vaan might find interesting. Go north to the North tip of Rabanastre, and head west to the building marked on your area map. Talk to the Bangaa and answer "Okay, let me in".
13. Inside the Clan Hall, talk to some of the people to get an idea of what this is all about. Once you've got the idea, talk to the moogle standing in between the staircases on the second floor. His name is Montblanc, and he's the one that'll let you join the clan and give you all the info you need. Talk to him another time to get a present just for joining Clan Ceturio.
