What could be worse than opening your door to let your dog back into the house and being greeted by a noxious and overwhelming odor of skunk? Not only is it very hard on YOUR olfactory nerves, this pervasive odor can linger for hours in your home and yard,and on your clothes and furniture. Furthermore it is a very unpleasant experience in every respect for your dog!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 tsp common liquid dish detergent
  • 1 quart hydrogen peroxide
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • a "skunked" dog or "skunk" smell in the yard or house
  1. Step 1

    Put one quart of the hydrogen peroxide into a glass or plastic container, do not put a lid on the container

  2. Step 2

    Add one fourth cup of baking soda to the mix

  3. Step 3

    add a one tespoon of dish soap into the hydrogen peroxide

  4. Step 4

    soak a sponge or dish rag in the solution and wash your dog or cat, or any surface which has been affected by the skunk smell

Tips & Warnings
  • work the suds into your pet and rinse well
  • use the solution up quickly, it loses its effectiveness within an hour
  • NEVER place this solution into a tightly covered container as it can explode
  • be careful not to get hydrogen peroxide into your dog's eyes or your own eyes
  • do not use this mixture on furniture or upholstery without testing first to make sure it will not damage the fabric

on 9/11/2008 This solution can also bleach your pets fur. If you want a completely product, you can use BioWorld's BON-CC-41. I used it on my dog the last 2 times she was sprayed and it works great. It will not harm your pet and you can even use it on furniture and carpet.
