The Master Cleanser or Lemonade Fast is a well-known and effective, safe way to allow your digestive system to rest as well as rid your body of some toxins.

Some people choose to begin the Master Cleanser to allow the elimination of toxins, rest the digestive system and strengthen their ability to focus on feelings, emotions, thoughts, and the important things in life. Some people will choose the fast for one of it's benefits ... weight loss.

Regardless of your purpose, it does take an internal strength and focus to maintain the fast for whatever period of time.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lemons or limes, preferably organic.
  • Purified, filtered or distilled water
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Pure Maple syrup, Dark Amber-Grade B
  1. Step 1

    How to make the lemonade:
The juice of half a lemon(always use the same amount of lemon juice)
Two tablespoons of pure maple syrup (NOT flavored maple syrup!)
1/10 teaspoon of red cayenne pepper
10 ounces of purified water warmed (each time)
Everything you need is in this drink! You will make it or rather survive on these ingredients!

  2. Step 2

Drink the lemonade drink at least 6 times a day preferably up to 12 times during the waking period.
Drink ONLY the lemonade drink and no other FOOD!
Whenever you are hungry prepare the lemonade drink.
You may drink purified water as desired.

  3. Step 3

Do the Fast for a minimun of 10 day or more. No longer than 40 days!
Whatever amount of time you do the fast note that you are doing something great for your body!

  4. Step 4

Coming off the fast is just as important as being on the fast.

Drink several 8 ounce glasses of orange juice to prepare the digestive track for food, 1-2 days before beginning food/first and second day after diet.

Eat raw fruit during the day, and a vegetable salad in the evening.

Start with a vegetable soup 3-4 days after fast (as tolerated and necessary)

    No bread or crackers.

Around the fourth day, you may eat normally. BUT try to eat healthy to keep up the great work you have accomplished!

Tips & Warnings
  • The first 3 days may be the hardest as your body goes into detox.
  • Use a herbal tea for elimination (Smooth Move) further rid your body of toxins, mucus, and waste.
  • The cayenne pepper assists in breaking up the mucus and increases the body's metabolism.
  • Juice or blend a portion of the organic lemon skin and pulp with the lemonade to assist in cleansing and elimination.
  • You can lessen the amount of maple syrup used for those seeking weight loss as well.
  • Join the Master Cleanser Forum online (google them). Many people are in various stages of the fast, some are starting for the first time. It is an excellent support atmosphere.
  • For first timers DO NOT try to do a 30 or 40 day fast.
  • Do not use honey as a sweetner at any time!
  • Supplements are generally not needed on this fast.
  • Break the fast by following the instructions to allow your system to accomodate food again.
  • The first days of the fast may cause digestive upset as your body lets go of toxins, mucus, and other irritants.

on 10/24/2008 Probably not the best thing to do for someone who is on medication that has to be taken with food, correct?

Great article, however, very well explained! Thanks!

on 9/9/2008 I tried this for just one day - terrible migraine! I'm thinking about doing it again, though because I've heard it's great after the 3rd day.
