Recycle old newspaper while preventing the growth of unwanted weeds in mulch.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Newspaper
  1. Step 1

    Save several old newspapers. Unfold them and place on the area to be mulched. Place six to eight newspapers on top of one another to make a thick layer.

  2. Step 2

    Cover the newspaper completely with mulch.

  3. Step 3

    The newspaper will naturally break down and add nutrients to the soil. This should be repeated once per year for the best weed control. Process can be done right over existing mulch.
