An Ear

Is your ear constantly popping? Is it hard to go to sleep at night? Is the constant popping even making it difficult to concentrate on the simplest things? This simple method should help cure the problem. Some people refer to this as Eustachian tube dysfunction.
Before seeing a doctor a simple technique could cure this problem. Sometimes it might be as simple as a little bit of a imbalance and pressure in air between your Ear Drum and Middle Ear

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • An ear that just won't quit popping
  • One hand
  • A few minutes and patience.
  1. Step 1

With one hand pinch your nostrils shut. No air in no air out.

  2. Step 2

    Take a deep breath

  3. Step 3

Using your cheek and throat muscles, force the air into the back of your nose as if you were trying to blow your thumb and fingers off your nostrils.
When you hear a loud pop in your ears, you have succeeded. You may have to repeat this several times.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may notice you will constantly yawn
  • If after popping you still feel your ear popping give it a few minutes before trying again to allow time for things to adjust.
  • If after a few attempts this does not work consult an Ear, Nose Throat Doctor for further investigation. They can diagnose a specific problem and depending on the diagnosis they can prescribe medications.
  • Take your time, the article points out to not do this constantly. In most cases try 2-3 times, if unsuccessful wait at least a few times and repeat. If after 3-4 tries this does not work cease and try even later.
  • After a day or two you make no progress at this, it is time to see a doctor.
