Step 1
Start your Kundalini exploration with long, deep breathing exercises. Starting with breathing exercises helps you bring awareness to the breath rate. Bring a conscious awareness to the heart and diaphragm. Listen to the breath and heart rate.

Step 2
Keep breathing. Allow yourself time to explore your breath pattern.

Step 3
Engage the Breath of Fire. This is long, deep, cleansing breathing. The lungs will completely expand and then you will force the air out. As soon as all the air is out, you will take a deep cleansing inhale. Force all the air out once again.

Step 4
Choose an area in the body you would like to focus your energy on. As you move in and out of poses or asanas, bring attention to the part chosen. For example. visualize the chakra chart, choose a part, such as the heart chakra, sex chakra or the third eye chakra. When you move into a pose, such as downward facing dog or child's pose, visualize that chakra.

Kundalini is about the relationship of our bodies, the energy in our selves, and the world around us. By doing breathing exercises, asanas and visualizing the pulsation of the chakras and enlightenment of the soul, you'll step your way into the world of mindfulness that is the Kundalini practice.
