Step 1
Give your cat plenty of attention. If you work full-time and can't be with your friendly feline, hire a cat sitter to visit your home at least twice a week during the work week. Instruct them to play with your cat, give it treats and clean their cat litter.

Purchase another cat to keep your attention-starved cat company. Be sure to introduce the new cat into your household when you have time to monitor their interaction.

Train your needy, indoor cat. If your cat is spoiled and loves to claw up your furniture, wake you up at night and begs for food, you will have to train it. Like a dog, you may have to give positive reinforcements when the cat behaves properly, and refrain doing so when it's been "naughty."

Allow your cat to meet new people. By inviting guests over frequently, you'll get your cat adjusted to people other than you. They'll realize that they are not your only priority.

Hire a pet psychologist. If your cat is causing problems with their neediness, you may have to bring in a professional. They can diagnose your cat and recommend several routes to take in helping your cat.

Set aside extra time to play with and love your cat. Buy them new toys once in awhile and brush them. Give them the extra love they crave and you may just see some improvement in their behavior.
