There is nothing more wonderful than serving homemade pasta noodles along with your favorite meal. The light and chewy texture of a pasta noodle made from scratch are far superior to the dry storebought variety. Once you try this quick and easy recipe, you may never go back.

From Quick Guide: Pasta 101
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. of salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 5 tbsp. of water
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Rolling pin
  • Clean kitchen towel
  • Pasta maker
  • Lightly floured surface
  1. Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, add together the recipe contents. The eggs should be added as the last ingredient.

  2. Step 2

With clean hands, blend the ingredients together, kneading until the dough becomes elastic.

  3. Step 3

While still in the bowl, form a ball with the dough and cover with a towel. The dough ball should set for about a half hour.

  4. Step 4

Roll the dough out with your rolling pin on a lightly floured surface. Aftrer, cut the dough into sections that will fit best through the pasta maker.

  5. Step 5

Depending on the pasta maker, you can create whatever size and type of noodles you prefer. Different attachments and settings will produce a different type of noodle. Thinner noodles may require a second trip through the pasta maker.

  6. Step 6

Allow pasta to completely dry out. After this, you can store it or cook it. Boiling time is about half the time of regular store bought noodles.

Tips & Warnings
  • If dough becomes too sticky to work with, you can add a sprinkle of flour, here and there.
  • Do not overwork the dough when kneading. The pasta will become tough in texture.
  • Do not rush through the pasta making. Dough needs time to rest and decreasing your prep time can potentially ruin the pasta noodles.
