How to Work Through an Anxiety Attack

Anxiety attacks can happen to anyone at one point or another. It is the constant worrying of our financial, family, work problems that makes us anxious or nervous. It will usually go away once you have resolved your stressful situations. Minimal anxiety can be resolved by trying some calming techniques.

Things You’ll Need:

  • a quiet place
  • motivation
  • support from people you trust
Step1
You can try taking a relaxing bath without interruptions, to help you deal with your anxiety attacks. Sometimes sitting in warm water can help your muscles relax and can make you feel less worried about things.
Step2
Try to avoid caffeine. Caffeine can make you nervous and jittery and can disrupt your sleep, causing to get an anxiety attack. If you have to have coffee or soda, try it without caffeine and or limit the amount you have during the week and see what happens.
Step3
Reduce the amount of alcohol you consume. Too much alcohol in your body can cause you to feel as if you are having an anxiety attack. The best thing to do is not drink at all and if you do just drink in moderation.
Step4
Try taking a tai chi or yoga class. Although these classes have been known to be relaxing and help with your stress and your weight, it is still an exercise program and you should consult with your doctor before enrolling.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your anxiety becomes overwhelming to the point that it is taking over your daily activities, talk to a health professional about your problems. They can help find the cause of your anxiety and prescribe medication if necessary.
  • Anxiety can be part of depression and people who have depression may have anxiety disorders and vice versa.
  • Although these are suggestions on how to overcome anxiety, Always consult your health professional for a thorough look at your symptoms.
  • Anxiety disorder symptoms, restlessness, fatigue, irritability and crankiness muscle tension, headaches, sleep difficulties (unable to fall or stay asleep) feelings of panic, such as sweating and shortness of breath
  • If you have any of these for long periods at a time or they happen everyday, consult your health professional for advice. Never ignore the symptoms they can become worse.
