Keeping track of your drill chuck is important!

An electric drill is a must-have tool for anyone doing maintenance, building or repair work, whether at home or elsewhere. Electric hand drills use a drill chuck to tighten the end of the drill that holds the drill bit. If you lose your drill chuck, you'll need to buy another, or your electric hand drill will be worthless. Find out how to store electric hand drill chucks here.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Drill chuck
  • String
  1. Step 1

Cut a piece of string 12 inches long.

  2. Step 2
Tie the string around the chuck.
Tie the string around the chuck.

Tie one end of the string onto the drill bit chuck. Be sure to wind the string around the chuck and tie it, so that you can still use all of the teeth to tighten the drill bit into the drill.

  3. Step 3

Attach the other end of the string where you'll be able to find it, without it being in your way. If you have a set of drill bits, drill a small hole through the plastic container that houses them. Then slip the end through this hole and tie a knot to secure it to the drill bits themselves. You'll never have to look for your chuck again!

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also tie the empty end of the string around the base or cord of your electric drill.
  • If you tie the chuck to your drill itself, make sure that the string is long enough to reach the chuck holes.
