A sprained ankle is a common problem. What are you supposed to do to treat it?

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ace Bandage
  • Ice
  • Crutches
  1. Step 1

First, ice the injury. The sooner you apply ice the more more effective you will be in preventing swelling.

  2. Step 2

Wrap the injury with an ace bandage. You want to wrap it tight enough to keep swelling down but not so tight that you cut off the blood circulation to your feet. If it is beginning to feel too tight or tingle and lose sensation in your toes, loosen and reapply.

  3. Step 3

Continue to ice the wrapped injury and keep it elevated above you heart. Rest it. Use crutches to prevent bearing weight. You do not to further the injury. Your goal right now is to keep the swelling to a minimum. It is also helpful to take a anti-inflammatory. Call the doctor if it does not improve or if you suspect a break.
