If you are concerned that your water bottle may contain chemicals, such as bisphenol A (BPA), that can leach from the polycarbonate plastic, it might be time to ditch the old water bottle and buy a new, safer BPA-free sports bottle made from aluminum, stainless steel or a brand-new material called Tritan copolyester.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Nalgene was a popular bottle used by bikers, hikers and office workers. The company is phasing out the bottles and replacing them with a new line of BPA-free containers. They are called the Everyday.
Step2
Camelback's water bottle, released in 2006, quickly became popular with soccer moms as well as urban professionals. Camelback has decided to use Tritan copolyester which the company says offers practically the same clarity, color range and toughness as polycarbonate bottles for consumers who want BPA -free bottles. The new bottle is called the Better Bottle and comes in three sizes and five colors.
Step3
SIGG Lifestyle Water Bottles are surprisingly rugged, crack-resistant and completely reusable and recyclable. Made from aluminum, SIGG bottles exceed FDA requirements and have been thoroughly tested to ensure they don't leach.
Step4
HealthE Goods makes Klean Kanteen stainless steel water bottles that are durable, made with medical-grade stainless steel, are lightweight and good-looking. They come in four sizes.
Step5
Glass water bottles are another safe alternative to polycarbonate bottles.

on 7/8/2008 Also, check out the new titan water bottle made from Tritan, which is the same material the new camelbaks and nalgenes have. I ordered a titan from the website - it has a built in carabiner clip, a spill proof mouthpiece, and you can use it with just one hand. It's on backorder though so until it comes, I'll keep using my camelbak better bottle which was cheap and so far has been a great bottle.

Oh yeah the website is www.titanwaterbottle.com
