How to Build and Organize a CD Rack

  1. Step 1

Determine what type of CD rack fits the type of CD buyer you are. If you are an extensive collector usually adding hundreds of CDs to your collection each year, a basic 100-CD rack will not be sufficient for you. However, if you only have about 50 or so CDs just so you can have your favorite songs, a small rack would be the smartest buy. Determine your quantity.

  2. Step 2

Decide where your CD rack is going to be located, and how much space is available for the CD rack. It may be a good idea to take some measurements using a tape measure of your location to get proper dimensions. Now, it is time to go to the store.

  3. Step 3

Select a destination in which to go to purchase your CD rack. Any furniture or home appliance shop will suffice. Ikea, Home Depot, and Target are all potential destinations for purchase. While shopping, keep in mind quantity needs and potential dimensions. This will assure that you purchase a CD rack that is the best possible solution for your needs. If you do not find anything suitable, try another store or perhaps go online and do some research of other available products.

  4. Step 4

Assemble the CD rack. Most CD racks do require some assembly. Since all CD racks are different, the best way to assemble a CD rack is to follow the instructions included with the product. Most instructions are basic and easy to follow, with all parts labeled and basic tools provided.

  5. Step 5

Organize the CD rack. There are countless ways to organize a CD rack, one of the most common being alphabetical. Making a CD rack alphabetical will allow locating most of your CDs a fairly simple process. If you have a large amount of CDs, alphabetical may be the way to go. However, there are other efficient ways too. Chronological, by genre, and autobiographical are other common and acceptable ways to arrange your CDs.

Tips & Warnings
