Eat Apples to Reduce Arthritis Pain

We have all heard the saying, "An apple a day helps keep the doctor away." Apples are healthy for anyone but may also contain nutrients beneficial for conditions, such as arthritis. Once you see how apples reduce arthritis pain and you may change your motto to, "An apple a day helps keep arthritis at bay."

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Eat one apple per day for your arthritis. Why? Apples contain the mineral boron, which can help to reduce the risk of acquiring osteoarthritis. Some people say that taking boron helped reduce arthritis pain.

  2. Step 2

Mix apple cider vinegar with a little honey and water. Mix 2 tbs. of apple cider vinegar in 8 oz. of water, and add a drop of honey. Apple cider vinegar is said to ease pain on the joints and make it easier for you to move around and be active. Drink the apple cider vinegar mixture 2 to 3 times per day. It may take up to 2 or 3 months to see results.

  3. Step 3

Consider taking an apple cider vinegar bath to relieve sore arthritis in the joints. Use 1/2 cup of hot apple cider vinegar to every 3 cups of very warm/hot water. Or, soak a face cloth or small towel in the mixture and wrap around your sore joint. Keep another larger towel around the first one to hold in the warmth. Repeat until you run out of the mixture or the mixture has cooled too much.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you choose to eat an apple a day, it is still a good idea to include a variety of other fruits (as well as vegetables) as part of a healthy, balanced diet. An apple a day is great, but should not be the only fruit you consume.
  • Keep moderately active to help lubricate your joints. Too much activity, such as heavy jogging, is not good for arthritis, but moderate walking with good shoes and swimming are excellent ways to stay mobile.
  • Make sure your doctor knows about your arthritis. Eating nutritional foods is only to boost reduction in pain and symptoms, not to replace other treatments that may be beneficial for your condition.
