  1. Step 1

Pay Per click Marketing is a huge step for any website owner when it comes to marketing your website. Before you actually start doing this type of marketing, read through the information below to get an idea of the pro's and cons of PPC marketing.

  2. Step 2

What is Pay Per Click (PPC) Marketing

Understanding PPC marketing is actually quite simple. It is one of the many ways you can pay to get people finding, and going to your site. How does it work? Well lets say for example you go to yahoo and search out "paper cups" After you have searched this you will get several results, in those results you then go through and decided to click on one of them, in a highlighted box. Right as you click on that link the company that owns that website just paid a certain amount for your click, this is PPC marketing.

  3. Step 3

How do I get an Account

To get an account is relatively simple the biggest PPC search engines are Google, Yahoo, and MSN. However there are many others that are cheaper, and easier to start with like 7 search, miva, kanoodle looksmart ext. To setup the account go to their website, and look for something that refers to advertising with them. On yahoo you go to the bottom of the page, and click on search marketing, with Google look for there AdWords accounts ext. As usual you will be asked the common internet sign up questions like name, address, phone, ext. However they will also ask you what keywords you want to use, so make sure that you have those ready to give. I usually setup an account with my top 5-10 keywords, and then just add to the list after I setup the account.

  4. Step 4

How much can I expect Pay

For the first time that you setup you can expect to pay a $5 or more. A lot of them will actually give you some kind of spiff, or bonus deposit amount somewhere between $10 and $50. So how much should you then expect to fork out? Well the nice thing about this is that you can choose how much you want to spend. For example with the smaller search engines like 7 search and miva, the minimum click is usually 1 cent so your money can go a long ways, of course you can opt to pay more. However on the smaller search engines I don't spend more then 15 cents per click to begin with as spending anymore is a wast of money. With the larger search engines like yahoo the minimum is about 15cents which also means that you can spend up to $5 or more per click so make sure you only do a maximum bid of 15cents.

  5. Step 5

    Were Should I Start

To get started your best strategy is to sign up with a few of the PPC search engines, and spend the least amount of money as possible. This is because for the first few days at least the traffic will only be traffic and it won't actually convert sells. I will start by getting my top 10 keywords for the site, and the proper website page address that I want those keywords to link to. After this I will setup an account with yahoo and then two of the smaller search engines, this keeps costs minimal, and for me has provided the best results. I will usually only be out about $25 and have over a hundred to spend, this is because of the spiffs they include for setting up the account.

Thanks for reading, and I hope this helps.
