your SSN
filing status
number of exemptions on your tax return

Step1

Everyone is writing about this but this is some great info on how to find out if your check is in the mail.

Step2

Go to www.irs. gov and click on wheres my refund. It is on the front page of the website. Very easy to find.

Step3

Next page you will see Wheres my Stimulus Payment click on that. After that you are directed to online tool that the IRS has created.

Step4

You input your ssn, then your filing status from 2007. Then you put how many exemptions you have. Then click finished. It will tell you what you are going to get. The amount and when it will be mailed. You might get a message stating that you were not found.

Step5

Go back and change your filing status. It has to be the same as what you filed for your 2007 tax return. Same goes with your exemptions. If you still get that message than contact the IRS. They will provide you with a number. Good Luck!

on 5/16/2008 Great info and just to add on your article. If they don't have any information yet, it is because the stimulus payment might still be processing. They will provide informtion if it is at least ten days before they are to send your payment. I know because I checked it for my father on the 13th and it gave me his information and when it was going to be mailed out. I put in my information and there is nothing available yet which means mine is still in pending mode.
