How to Cut a Cantaloupe

Cantaloupe can be an intimidating fruit to cut. It doesn't have to be. Here is how you can cut a cantaloupe the right way.

Things You'll Need:

  • Sharp Pairing Knife
  • 2 bowls
  • 1 Spoon
  1. Step 1
    Slicing the cantaloupe.

    First, cut the cantaloupe down the middle as shown in the picture.

  2. Step 2

    Next, scoop out all of the seeds with your spoon and put them into one of your bowls.

  3. Step 3

    Slice the cantaloupe half into long wedges that are about two inches wide.

  4. Step 4

    Remove the skin by running the knife along the cantaloupe right underneath the skin. You may want to remove any green melon while you are cutting off the skin.

  5. Step 5

    Put the freshly cut melon into the other bowl and serve chilled.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cantaloupe is easier to cut when it is chilled.
  • Children should have supervision when using a knife.
