Things You'll Need:
- Catalogs
- The Internet
- Transportation (optional)
-
Step 1
Subscribe to catalogs that have Renaissance, re-enactment, or costume themes. Renaissance fashion catalogs are particularly good. You can find them through the search engines. If you don't have time to subscribe, you can view many of them online. They have wonderful, long, romantic, floaty dresses for much less than the bridal boutiques charge.
-
Step 2
Check Ebay. Ebay is the bargain-hunter's dream. Even if you don't want to bid, today there are nine pages of wedding gowns in the "Buy It Now" category, U.S. only (because the ones from other countries may be cheap, but if you're in America, the shipping can be outrageous from outside the country.) Many of these dresses are $99.99 or less. If you are willing to bid, they can be much less!
-
Step 3
Check outlet stores, consignment stores and department store clearance areas. There are consignment stores that specialize in bridal fashion, and if you don't care if the dress has been worn once, you can find fabulous designer dresses for a fraction of the cost. In outlet stores and department stores, don't forget to check prom dresses and evening wear as well as bridal.
